1300 VStar throttle vibration

#1 Unread post by Cruiserider »

What could be a possible cause for vibration in the throttle grip on my 2009 VStar 1300? This has developed recently, and is only noticable in my right hand. I can feel a little vibration at most speeds but not bothersome, but around 60-70mph it can actually feel like a buzz, enough to make my fingers tingle,(sometimes). I ride 38miles to work every day, and sometimes this vibration is more prevelant than others. It may tingle my fingers on the way to work, and not on the way home, or vice versa. Same tank of gas (non-ethynol). I run a dose of Sea Foam about every 3 tanks or so. I used to not notice this vibration at any speed. Any clues? Thanks

The belt tension is ok, so I'll look into syncronizing the throttle bodies. I haven't thought of doing that. That is what I need, some brainstorming, and thanks a lot for suggestions on what to do. Any other ideas are welcome. This bike has been running too good to be bothered with an annoying vibration. I've had it 1yr and 10months and put 36,000 miles on it so far. Love it!

Do you have a death grip on the throttle?

No death grip for sure. I just posted on another 1300 forum that last weekend I changed the oil and filter. When I removed the drain pan to dump it, there was a tooth laying on the container. It was about 1/4" wide, so I think it was from a sprocket and not a gear. This could very well be the source of the vibration, but I'm not 100% sure. I plan on calling around to find a shop that will check it out and hopefully not rob me blind. It won't be the dealer I've been using, because I have reason to believe they haven't been doing what the bill says they did.
