Their was an old man he told me many years ago, he said son if you wont to live to see tomorrow on a bike. Never, ever make a left hand turn in traffic, and ride like everyone is out to get you! I laughed at what he said, but lived and learned that he was telling the truth. On public highways and freeways you have to restrain and slow down, or you will end up dead. When you have 130 hp at your wrist with only 487 lbs wet weight, and can run the quarter mile at 10.6 at 130 mph with a 165 lb rider. You'd better live to ride and ride to live. That is why I will keep restrain on the tip of my tongue every time I ride. I'm excited to hear the phone ring, Say's come on down your bike is here and ready. Also hope the weather is fit to ride since we are at the dog days of summer. 103 degrees in the shade, with 112 heat factor. Even the air will slowly cook your face at speed when the temp is that high. With that said, early morning rides or late evening and dark riding. Many many back roads to cruise on, with next to no traffic, how cool is that... I can concentrate more on the bike brakes and engine feel and not have to worry about car traffic. I hope I can sleep tonight!

Thanks for the warm welcome! We really like our FZ1 Yamaha, I'm taking it easy till I get some miles on it. I sat on a Kawasaki 900 classic and also a custom, they both fit me very well. And I would have considered purchasing a classic 900, but my wife and I are really big heavy bikers so... really had no choice but the get a liter size standard. Most of our riding will be back country roads, going through town to the lake where our biker friends hang out. Theirs plenty of pine trees to shade us from direct sun light at the lake, every brand of motorcycle you could imagine will hang out at the lake. Sometimes all of us will go grab a burger or dine in a several restaurants. Their is always 30 to 40 bikes down at the lake, we have some huge grills down their also. Sometimes we all pitch in and BBQ a few steaks and brisket's, you know us bikers love to eat. Thursday first place we rode was to the lake, everybody gave us a thumbs up on our new FZ1.
