What is the bike worth, to you. Realistically.
People say I'm stupid and apathetic. I don't know what that means, and I don't care.

Would you want to replace it if it was wrecked and your fault? If yes, comprehensive, if no, then don't.

Im just wondering that my bike's value now is pretty low that it's not worth insuring comprehensive.

Comprehensive covers all those things NOT covered by collision, If you're at fault and you're in a collision, your bike is covered it may affect your premiums, but you're covered. A guy parks next to you so close he can't get out of his car, so he opens up the window, gives the bike a shove and now he can get out, damage to the bike from being knocked over, is comprehensive coverage, especially if you don't have a witness to the incident. Just like glass damage, door dings, keyed paint, on a car are all comprehensive claims. So I guess the question would be, "Can you afford to have any comp' damages repaired without insurance?".

Comprehensive insurance is usually pretty inexpensive, not like collision. I carry it primarily to protect myself against theft of my bike.

I thought sometimes though an insurance company can just "total" your bike if they don't want to pay the high cost of repairs.dr_bar wrote:Comprehensive covers all those things NOT covered by collision, If you're at fault and you're in a collision, your bike is covered it may affect your premiums, but you're covered. Re: help me decide. should i still insure my bike comprehens
For me (and I usually have an older bike) I just go with basic (but maxed) liability. If it's something of value (new or newish) I'll added that plus comprehensive. I've never had collision on a bike as it usually doubles (or triples) the entire policy cost.

Re: help me decide. should i still insure my bike comprehens
i'll keep comp insurance i guess. i can't buy a new one w/o seriously hurting my bank account.
even though i don't use the bike much lately... i feel that i wanna maintain owning a sport car, sport bike, and a sport bicycle. lolz

They can, but there is a limit. Usually it takes 70% of the actual value of the vehicle including parts and labor.Brackstone wrote:I thought sometimes though an insurance company can just "total" your bike if they don't want to pay the high cost of repairs.
