Guess what I did today!

#1 Unread post by AmericanWeiner »

Nope, I didn't ride a motorcycle, but I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night. :o

Ok, not realy. I went to the Kawa dealer and sat on a Ninja500 (silver...orange stripe). I felt like my pants were a little crampy on it (kahkis...not riding pants...don't have any of those, yet), but otherwise, everything was good. I figured they'd be more sporty, but I felt surprisingly upright on it. It felt big, and I got a simultaneous wave of awe, smallness, and safety (Hadn't even sat on a bike in a long, long time). I could flatfoot on it..which was a given, I guess. I'm 6'3", after all.

Anywho, it was cool. I'm definately considering a ninja now.

Afterwards, I went to the Harley place to check out their Rider's Edge program. I saw a Buell Blast- it looked like an ugly chiwawa. :?

Ok I'm done. G'night everyone.
I have no bike. :(
I do have a nice guitar, though. :D

i personally dont like the ex500, someone in my apartment complex has one parked near my bike everytime i see it i just cant bring myself to like it ha. by all means though if you like go for it. you should try other bikes though its fun to just go around to dealers and sit on every bike in the shop. always better if you have someone with you to so you dont get bored sitting alone ha.

if you like the ex500 you should check out some suzukis just to see how they feel.

You don't like the looks, or what? I didn't like them at first, but they've grown on me. I still think the 250 looks wonky.

I do intend to try out a gs500 before I buy anything, but it's going to take a short hop out of town, since we don't have a Suzuki dealer here.

What Honda/Yamaha/Kawa bikes should I try out in the meanwhile?

Go to your local 'high end' import shop and see how many they let you sit on.

I went to the local Honda/Suzuki place (I liked the v-strom and the boulevards... still unsure what I'll get; standard or cruiser) and, they let me sit on any bike in the shop and offered to pull them out so I had more room.

Next, I went to the local Ducati/Enfield/Guzzi/Triumph dealer. The response there? "We would prefer you don't sit on any of them but, if you're serious about buying something, be really careful." They were friendly and knowledgable but, didn't want me touching anything.

How am I supposed to decide if I like it if I can't try it on?

Scoutmedic - with that kind of response from a dealer, I'd move on to the next one and let them know why.

Good for you Weiner - let us know how it comes out.
