Sportster Speed

#1 Unread post by CentralOzzy »

Today I took out the 1200 Sportster C for a Blat & usually I just cruise at a moderate pace, but today I decided to give it some herbs down the straight & lo & behold it went out to 170 KPH & wanted to keep on going....it was at this point I thought....Hang on, just how fast can this little bike go before I get speed wobbles & crash?

So I backed off to be safe as I wasn't really wearing the right clothing to be rolling down the road at speed - without the bike.

It kinda surprised me, not bad for a Girls Bike!

Oh, now you've done it! All the Harley "experts" will be demanding proof you went that fast because they were told by a friend's cousin's neighbour who lived down the block from an old guy that knew someone who's grandson used to work with a guy that said Harleys can't go that fast. :D

Mighty fine lookin' scoot, btw. :righton:

Pretty bike!! And I thought the 883 was the "girl's" bike as well.

And can we please quit equating weak things with girls?! Girls are pretty hard core, if you haven't noticed. Ever see a woman give birth without pain medication? Well I have - it was me!! Twice! When a woman is at full-term in her pregnancy, the uterus is then the largest and strongest muscle of any human. I'd like to see any guy go through that without breaking down. And girls handle tattoos better as well. Guys will tense up and wince their faces like they're being tortured. And there's nothing weak about anything I do in life, including the bike I ride. I mean, really. For the most part, muscle to muscle, guys can physically do more, but women are in no way weak or incapable of handling the tough things in life.

Sorry for the rant and for going off topic. It really is a great looking bike, and I know the feeling of pushing a bike really fast once in awhile. When the bike can handle it, it's a great ride!

Cheers,
Loonette

You complain about generalisations and then make them yourself.

It's what I've observed. So I'll just say "most". And "most" tattoo artists would agree - even the men tattoo artists. And this is the first time I've complained despite countless times on these forums that I have to hear about this-or-that small, underpowered bike being best suited for a girl. But, typical to "most" men, you just don't get it.

now now children. play nice.

I guess we should consider the SV650 as a 'girls bike', because I happen to know one or two women that race them.

Maybe even the GL1800 - I've seen plenty of women riding them, along with ST1300's, sportbikes anywhere from 600cc and up.

There are no 'girl's bikes' or 'men's bikes', there's simply bikes. Ride what you want and be damned what anyone else thinks.
