stretching boots?

Tried Redwings? Very popular with the industrial plant crowd. Tough and comfortable.

well i did try redwings today, i was set on a hiker style with steel toe from sears(cat). but didnt have anything that fit me right or feel comfortable. so i went to a redwing store and the guy took the time to measure my feet up properly and ask what i was going to do in them(really great sales guy). then put me in a pair of steel oxford shoes. i have to say they are the most comfortable shoes i have ever had. im wearing them now just to break them in a bit(not that its needed). i cant feel the steel at all which is amazing. they look cool to. the store also carried my perfect size(ive been wearing the wrong size shoes for a while it seems). i hate to sound so pro redwing as i havent put any real time in the shoes but as of right now im planning to go back and get a pair of non-steel shoes for everyday wearing ha.

but just for anyone looking for some good shoes/boots check out redwing. but dam they cost alot. 150$ for mine... worth it though, thanks oldnslo

Red Wings are the best. I always go to the Redwing store - they usually have someone who actually knows the product - unlike your shoe stor in the mall - and they actually measure your feet. I have really wide feet so I always buy brands that come in widths - like all shoes used to. Apparently sometime in the 80's it was decided that all our feet only varied in length. They cost a bit more, but they are worth it in my opinion.

yea my foot is wide too, but ive never been properlly measured before(at least by someone who knew what they were doing). so ive been wearing a size to small. i have alot of foot problems as it is. but sofar ive put maybe 15 hours in my shoes and still love them and planning on a second pair very soon

i seen on ebay theres alot of good deals there also, now i know my proper size i can shop around online for better deals at least.

Yep, I'm a double E for width. So if the shoes don't come in widths I can't really buy them. Red Wing shoes come in widths and New Balance running shoes do too (and I've noticed that Skechers run wider than other brands). They sell both at the red wing store so I don't really go anywhere else. It'll still be hit and miss online because the manufacturers vary a bit, but you'll be better off than you were before.

An old trick for breaking in boots is get them soaking wet in the bathtub with hot water. Then wear them till they completely dry. I've never heard of having to do it twice but I suppose there is a first time for everything. When you break in your boots this way you'll actually feel them relax-- aahh...
