Well for what it's worth, the KLR and DR 650s are dirt bikes that are streetable.
The Versys is a heavily street bike that's somewhat dirt capable.
The Weestrom is a street bike that's dirt capable.
Now if you really want to go all out, check out the Super Tenere or the R1200GS or the 990 Adventure... Drool...

Re: Look what I stumbled upon today!!!!!!
Well this weekend was fantastic so much so I want to do it more and more. I realized I do not have the motorcycle for it though. I think the time has come for a choice. Next season were do I want to be on a Buell or an Adventure touring machine. I broke something in my front end this weekend and now I will not be riding for? how long. I made the trip with 2 saddlebags full of tools and a battery in case my stator shyt the bed. I love Buell but there are not many of us left. I can not afford a new one when and if they arrive so where do I go? I watched a friend snap a belt this weekend and if not for his own parts supply and another friend and ama he would have been uhauling it home
Vstrom, Versey, Tiger, BMW 800?
One of the Buell guys got a tenere and yes I drool but that is to much money!!

Out of all of those, the Tiger is probably the best bang for the buck, but it's stil a lot of buck.
Are you wanting to do mostly street? Some light dirt? Rutted dirt roads? Trails? Single track?

Not sure yet but I'll start with mostly street and move on from there. I just found a 08 Verseys for 3500 so if it's available I might just grab it. I found a 955 Tiger for 3600 but it is uglier than all can be.
there aint nothin like it

Yeah the 955s aren't exactly pretty... lol
I'd still go with the DL650 over the Versys. I'm just not sold on the Versys being any kind of an offroad bike, especially after reading reviews of people who have tried it.

If you are looking for a comfortable sport-tourer the 10-5-oh Tiger is supposed to be one of the best out there. Especially for the money. Not really any off-road capability though -but for me most of the big adventure bikes would fall in to that category...BRUMBEAR wrote:I think I will keep looking as the verseys was not available, I also found a 1050 Tiger for 6400 that aint bad except its several hundred miles away?
