I rode to work today. It was quite nice this morning, but deteriorated during the day to pounding rain.

I told the woman I sometimes give a ride to that she would get wet, be cold and the safety was diminished due to the wet roads. At first she said she still wanted to ride with me.
I made it clear that her pants would get soaked, her shoes would get soaked and then she would be very cold.

She decided to take the bus.

I, however, was dressed for the rain. I actually enjoyed the ride home alone.

I would prefer if it is dry tomorrow though. I need to get home a bit quicker.

Last Sunday someone had some serious road rage and was harassing me and trying to intimidate me off the road.

I was cruising along the new Fraser Perimeter Road in Surrey...not much traffic...2 lanes....riding in the right lane at the speed limit. It's almost as if riding alone because everyone passes me and they are gone.

Near the west end of it is still not complete though. It's a construction zone which ends at a traffic light.

As the highway ends it becomes an industrial/business area that borders on a park. It is a 30kmh marked playground zone. You know me.....I slowed to 30..but the person behind me was not happy about it.

They tailgated the whole way through and then as it ended and the speed bumps back up to 50kmh, I saw the light ahead was red. No need for speed coming to a red light.

There are 2 lanes at the light. One turns left and one turns right. I had signalled and was waiting to turn left. Just as the light turned green. I noticed the person in the car behind suddenly make the motion to veer right and attempt to make the left turn by passing me on my right.

The car was right beside me now on the shoulder....I felt like we would have collided if I did not wind up the throttle. If I had suddenly stopped the cars behind would have rear ended me. So...I accelerated away from the road rager which made her even more mad.

She was tailgating and had her hand on the car horn for about a block.

Then when we were one block away from King George where we would have come to a light...she suddenly veered into a left turn lane, passed me and then veered into my lane making me brake.

She turned right at the light and I pulled into the gas station and called 911.

I don't have a good head for remembering numbers...but in this case I actually remember the plate number.

I decided I had enough cruising around and rode to the store for groceries. Ironic that I would choose the Safeway.

I felt a bit shaken, but only stayed off the bike for 3 days. The last time someone did something like this I stayed off the bike for over 2 weeks.

When I called the police they took my complaint seriously. They called me later to tell me that unfortunately they had not been able to find her.

People should be able to ride around or drive around at the speed limit without being harassed and intimidated.

I went through a phase a long time ago of being an aggressive driver, but I never ever tried to scare people. All I did was make myself frustrated and stressed. I have since learned to slow down and it is far more relaxing.

When I retire I plan to move away from the big city.....in theory the pace of life will be slower and perhaps not so much aggressive driving.


I rode to work yesterday. It was raining so my bike was the only one at work. On a nice day it's hard to fit all the bikes into the motorcycle parking space.

Rain, rain go away!

My ride to dinner got cancelled last night because the riding friend thought it would rain...so we walked to go to dinner. It never did rain. We changed plans to go ride this morning instead. Shortly after we got going...it started raining.
Sigh....

I rode with him to his friends place and then carried on my own way. I went riding for a bit, but then it started raining even harder. I rode to a local coffee shop....I bypassed about 6 Starbucks to go to a locally owned place.

After my lunch and coffee, I decided to go home to do some work around my place. Of course as soon as I got home the sun came out.

My neighbours and I did some pruning and stump removing. Between the four of us and a skill saw and big axe...the 2 stumps came out. Neighbour Bill made coffee so we took a break. We all agreed that it didn't feel like work when were all working together.

Later I walked a few blocks to the grocery store and back. It was a good day over all.

Once again my vacation plans had to change. That is a polite way of saying the other party cancelled on me. I understand why he cancelled making any plans for a road trip....because he's travelling to the eastern part of BC to help clear out his folks house. They are downsizing. I suggested he could have asked me to go there....he said it crossed his mind....however....

So...tomorrow morning I am setting off on my own on Zena to ride to Salmon Arm, BC. I have some friends who moved there and built a new house. I'll go visit them.
I've only been through Salmon Arm in the dark so it will be nice to see it in the daylight.

I should have a few nice pictures to post when I get back.

I am on my way out to the garage to check the tires and air pressure and make sure the bike is ready for the morning.



It's dry and sunny. It should be a good ride.

Today was an 11 hour and 520km ride.

I have to stop in between fuel breaks to give my back a rest and on extremely hot days like today to have a cold drink of water.

Doc rode to Merritt to meet me as I was coming home from near Salmon Arm BC. He had a 12 hour day.

I'll have some pics and stories from my vacation soon.

I was lucky enough to get 2 weeks vacation time in the summer this year. Usually the summer weeks get taken before I get a chance to sign up. The other lucky thing was the weather. It only rained one day.

I spent the first few days visiting my Mom up the coast. I came back for one day and then rode my motorcycle to Shuswap Lake in BC for a week. Shuswap Lake is about an hour beyond Kamloops and about 20 minutes before Salmon Arm.

I went boating, swimming, quad riding, exploring the local area. The people I went to visit made sure I had a good time. I must say, it is one of the best vacations I’ve had.

I rode up the Coquihalla to Merritt and then used the old Quilchena (5A) to Kamloops. It is a bit slower than going to Kamloops via the Coquihalla, but much more scenic and less traffic.
