Scanned through the forum but could not find a similar discussion so here goes:
I have a 2001 Kawasaki VN1500 FI with electronic speedo. About a year ago, I had an issue with the fuel pump not working so I removed the fuel tank to test it and it worked fine. Turns out it was a stuck tilt kill switch, now the bike runs fine with no issues. After putting the fuel tank back on, the speedo, the turn signal auto-off and the low beam headlight no longer work. The needle on the speedo does not move when the bike is turned on or cranked up. The warning lights work fine along with the fuel gauge. About a year before all this happened, the odometer LED stop showing the time or the mileage. I went into an office, it rained for 5 minute (not too hard) and when I came back out, it no longer worked. The light in the odometer part works fine, but no LED characters. This is secondary to my main problem but I thought it might help out with the trouble shooting.
I've checked the connector where the wiring harness attaches to the gauge unit, it looks good. What else, where else can I check and how? Please help, this is very frustrating as I have to use high beam only to drive anytime at night. Is there a trouble shooting guide that could be sent to me? Again, I'm at my wits end.
I did check the headlight, I tried out a lamp that I knew worked from my friends VN1500 and no low in it. When put back in his bike, the low worked.
PLEASE HELP!!!
Thanks for your assistance with this issue.

Hello Jason and welcome to the forum. I think your going to have to put out for a service manual for your motorcycle, and a voltmeter. Good luck and post a picture of your bike.

I recommend the Kawasaki service manual as it will have all the information you'll need to repair the bike. It's expensive though, I also use Clymer manuals.
