Be Honest, who drinks and rides

#1 Unread post by sapaul »

Following on from the thread of an increase in motorcycle deaths, we note that we often see guys having "a couple of beers" and then getting on their bikes. I personaly think this is suicide but would like to hear your opinion.
I spent my therapy money an a K1200S
The therapy worked, I got a GS now
A touch of insanity crept back in the shape of an R1200R

I will (very rarely) have half a pint, and then drive an hour later, but never when on the bike

Absolutely never. Once home again, I have a small fridge in the garage full of beer to enjoy, but only at the end, with the bike tucked away.
I don't understand why people ride to the tavern, sit there all day, then ride home. Idiots.

Nope- I do all my drinking at home. I don't even go near my truck if I've had a few.

Quit drinking in 78, quit smoking in 82, and started riding in 84. How's that for timing :D , have never ridden with any alcohol in me. Please don't ask about drinking and driving though.

When I was in college and for a few years after, I would drive absolutely blind drunk. It's nothing less than a miracle that I'm alive and that I didn't kill anyone. I slowly stopped drinking though. Now it's twenty years later and it's not something I worry about at all. I never had a huge tragedy that forced me to stop. Never went to AA or had a doctor tell me to stop. I have no moral or religious problem with alcohol. It's weird, but drinking just kind of went away on me. Just lost the taste for it. Haven't had a drink in five years and I probably didn't have twenty drinks in the five years before that. Anyway, the answer to the question is no - I never drink and ride.

half the time it's annoying that I can't drink when I go out with my friends if I'm riding, the other half it makes a good excuse when I don't want to drink.

I've ridden my bike (bicycle) when just a little tipsy and that was more than enough to convince me never to get on a motorcycle when I've been drinking.
