Think I might just be bikeless this year

Given that poor old Connie is pretty much on her last legs and would cost a lot more than it is worth to bring her up to spec, I figure I will put her up for sale. Hopefully someone can either use her as a parts bike or has the time and money to get properly road worthy again. And sadly, the same fate awaits Sabre, she has been sitting collecting dust, dead leafs and spider webs for three years now awaiting restoration and I just don't have the time, location, money and lets face it, the skills required to do a proper job on her. Again looking to sell her as a parts bike or to someone looking to restore a classic Honda V45 Sabre.

I've been pricing out various replacements, but yet to find either a bike I like or one that I can afford. Weird thing is, I am making more money now than ever before but I have a lot of expenses to cover this year. Got to get married, which mean either a trip to the Philippines (postponed due to the Typhoon hitting Leyte Island) or bring she who must be obeyed here. Either way, gonna eat up a lot my free coin. Have some minor but pricey medical issues to deal with as well. And now it looks like I might be moving again in the near future.

So I guess I will just be caging it this year and saving up to get me a really good bike for the next year.

Bike prices in your area are HIGH - I was just checking a few things on your local Craigslist. Of course, my point of reference is US dollars, not sure where the Canadian dollar is in relation right now.

It's taken a bit of a nose dive later, C$1 is worth about USD0.899 or there about. Still wanting to get a Triumph ST bike, either the Sprint ST with ABS or an older Trophy. Figure the best thing I should do is save up the money and buy straight out in the New Year when prices are down a bit. Nice thing about work is we are now on a commission incentive programme, and I am taking in around an additional C$1000 per month on top of my salary.

Sorry to hear about your Connie and that V45 Sabre... I wouldn't give up hope finding a good bike at a low price, I had to find one here for a friend that was under $1000. After 6 months of looking, I found him a 2006 Suzuki GS500F, with few mechanical issues and some cosmetics on Craigslist.

Most of those types of bikes here in Texas go for around $500+ more. If you want, I'm sure some of us could check once and a while what's in your area on kijiji.ca or ebay.ca or even Craigslist, might be fun.

Just came back from putting a C$400 down payment on a 1998 Triumph Trophy 1200 with only 86,000 Kilo's on the clock selling for C$3300. Very nice shape. Should have the balance paid off in three weeks time, didn't bother haggling as I have been wanting either an older model Trophy or a Sprint for ages.

Ah but, I have one coming in and two that don't run.....so still functionally bikeless for the time being.

But yeah, she is purty, British Racing Green is the only colour that should be allowable of a proper British Machine much like red is the only truly acceptable colour on an Italian sport bike.

Do you know why Britain's national auto racing colour is Green? Coz way back before the First World War, Britain was to host a Grand Prix, however UK road law disallowed automobile racing on the street even back then. Ireland had no such restrictions, so the event was held there and the British team adopted Green as their national colour in honour of the Irish hosting the race.

Now.... let's talk turkey. The two most frequent sources of problems on these bikes are coils, and pinched vacuum lines. Both are fairly straightforward to solve.

The **biggest** source of Triumph Trophy knowledge on the planet is a Yahoo Group: https://groups.yahoo.com/neo/groups/TriumphTrophy/info This is a public group, so if you're not a member of Yahoo Groups, you still should be able to see it. There is also a Triumph Trophy board on Triumphrat, but the Yahoo group is far bigger and more active. Any conceivable issue that might arise with your bike has already been encountered and solved by these folks. I can't recommend this group highly enough.
