#1 Unread post by QuietMonkey »

This week's series of Peanuts cartoons reminded me of how Linus is a classic parallel to the Motorcycling Addiction... here's some toons:

Care to expand on that thought - - cheap therapy :-D

Ones mood all depends upon how you perceive the information. The anger in the world comes sneaking out in many ways, and Charles Shultz had a lot of great cartoons to tell us about how he felt about the world.

So does Bill Waterson via Calvin & Hobbes -- some messages are simpler than others:

Glad to....you see, when I read newspaper comics it really upsets me that people are getting paid good money to sit around and write one lame little quip that isn't even remotely funny and that the expectation is that my IQ is low enough to find it amusing. I mean, we get it already...Garfield is a fat cat that likes to eat...and John is a single metro-sexual moron that likes to leave lasagna cooling on the table next to him...thank you, drive through.

so why torture yourself reading garfield or whatever cartoon you don't like? there are always plenty of other cartoons to read. some days a cartoon does the trick and other days they don't...

i dont think anyone is concerned with your IQ... it's not like they're puzzles as much as cartoons are about perspective. theyre written for a vast audience. the garfield audience appears to like cats, john, odie and food stories :)

as for getting paid for the cartoons, hey, i am always happy for someone who can work at what they love and get paid... we should all do it :D it's not worth being jealous... you can develop and use your full talents too. some work is fun.. it often depends on the people you work with, the work you do, and the attitude you take with you... all those choices we make in our lives and all things we can change... writing 365 comics a year seems like a good bit of work to me....

Nope...that's just it...there are darn near two pages of them a week in the Dispatch and I haven't read a funny one yet. Who is the target audience for these frickin' things???

Most comics are garbage (garfield, born loser, etc), but classic strips like Peanuts and Calvin & Hobbes are great. C&H is the best comic ever IMO.
