It's very convenient, I know, but right now it is possible to see the likely result of a crash without a helmet. Pick any news program, and take a good look at Terri Shiavo. Although her injuries came from other sources, the result is very similar to that of a rider's head sharply contacting the roadway or other hard object. The life of a parsnip. And that isn't even the worst-case scenario.

Laws exist to protect humans from their own lack of experience and knowledge.

It is not a question of individual freedom vs government.

Incontrovertible evidence shows that helmets protect bikers from more serious injuries.

That is why we wear them!
