Congrats on your acquisition.

Now.... let's talk turkey. The two most frequent sources of problems on these bikes are coils, and pinched vacuum lines. Both are fairly straightforward to solve.

The **biggest** source of Triumph Trophy knowledge on the planet is a Yahoo Group: https://groups.yahoo.com/neo/groups/TriumphTrophy/info This is a public group, so if you're not a member of Yahoo Groups, you still should be able to see it. There is also a Triumph Trophy board on Triumphrat, but the Yahoo group is far bigger and more active. Any conceivable issue that might arise with your bike has already been encountered and solved by these folks. I can't recommend this group highly enough.
Thanks jstark,

Yeah I have been reading up on the issues that faced this model. Coils and vacuum lines, especially with an improperly installed Scottoiler, (which this bike does not have but I am considering having installed) being the main one, which oddly enough were the main source of problems I had with the Connie. Parts for these bike can be pricey as well. But oh lord IT'S A TRIUMPH TROPHY!!!!!!! First thing I am doing when I get her is to take to one of the two Triumph dealerships we have here and have them give her a complete going over.

Already belong to Triumphrat, tho more as a ghost member.
Always ask why.

Coz way back before the First World War, Britain was to host a Grand Prix, however UK road law disallowed automobile racing on the street even back then. Ireland had no such restrictions, so the event was held there and the British team adopted Green as their national colour in honour of the Irish hosting the race.
Ah, thanks. Yah learn something new every day. :D

Damn boy, you must be Psychotic.....errr, I mean Psychic. (not really, I did mean psychotic)

Just came back from putting a C$400 down payment on a 1998 Triumph Trophy 1200 with only 86,000 Kilo's on the clock selling for C$3300. Very nice shape. Should have the balance paid off in three weeks time, didn't bother haggling as I have been wanting either an older model Trophy or a Sprint for ages.

Here is some pictures from the Craigs List ad:

Now I just have to sell Sabre and Connie to make some room for her.

That is a very classy looking moto and she looks to be in great shape for her age. Congratulations!

Damn, damn and double damn. I was so looking forward to bringing the Trophy home this weekend.....but I made an error.....was counting on my commission cheque to pay it off, but we will not be getting that cheque until next payday.....bugger bugger bugger......but at least it looks like I have the Sabre sold, still no bites for the Connie.
Always ask why.

An update since my last post. Paid off the Trophy last week, however the current owner is away on holidays till the 7th of August, so should pick it up on the 8th. I had planned to pay her off and pick her up last month before he went away, but sadly one of my cats got ill and spent a week at the vet hospital. Unfortunately I had to make one the hardest decisions of my life, and had her put out of her pain and suffering. To be honest, that tore me up even more than my father passing away.

Today I cut a deal and have sold off Connie, only got C$500 for her but so far that has been the best and only offer since I put her on the market back in May. Sabre is still here, had a few nibbles for her and some really BS offers, even had a guy drive up from Washington State in his pick up to look at her, then he offered me USD50, he went home without Sabre in the back of his truck. Also today, I bought a new helmet and boots, figured it was time for new ones.

So, I should be back on the road on two wheels in just over a week.
Always ask why.

The last few days before you can throw your leg over a new motorcycle are filled with a wonderful sense of anticipation.

Enjoy your Trophy.

Safe Travels,
Richard
