Bike only runs on choke (Yamaha V-Star 650)
My 2007 Yamaha V-Star 650 had been sitting for around 10 months (garage kept), and I'd been running it about once a week with no trouble. I was out of town for a few weeks however, and when I came back (after recharging the battery) it would only start and run on choke, and shut off immediately if the choke got shut off. Thinking the carbs may have been a little gummy, I filled the tank with new gas and some Berryman's B12, ran it to cycle it through and let it sit overnight with no change. So next step, with the help of a buddy we took the carb off, opened it up and hit it with seafoam and tetroline, which was more of a formality because it pretty much looked spotless. There were no vacuum leaks or split rubber that we could find anywhere. When you turn the bike on, it makes its standard clicks and the fuel pump hums happily. All the fuses checked out good. Not sure where to go from here, and I can't find any service manuals for my bike online to look further. Any help would most definitely be appreciated! Thanks!

Both looked fouled (black), and the left hand side was a little wet. I changed them out; no difference in starting.

you got protien sludge in your carb/carbs most probably I would try to pull the bowl drain while its out blow some brake parts cleaner up in there, restart and use some sea foam spray with your air filter off try to clean up the high speed jets or else pull the carb and clean it sorry.

So as I was taking the carbs apart to try re-cleaning them more thoroughly, one of the wires (pictured in the link below) popped off (not sure what the part name is). Can anyone recommend where to locate/buy a replacement piece?

Wires on a carburetor? That's outside my experience (well, except for the '84 Jeep I worked on a lot).
Maybe you need a service manual now?

I need more help with the wires. Looks like cylindrical metal things with pointy shafts from the middle.
Where did they come from? (what do they go in to?)
They suggest to me that they are mixture control solenoids that would have to be computer controlled somehow.
You need a service manual or a youtube tutorial on that specific bike.

I appreciate all the responses. You can see them installed on the carb in this picture (not of mine): http://i.ebayimg.com/00/s/Njg4WDkyMQ==/ ... N/$_57.JPG
This youtube clip shows what's beneath it: http://youtu.be/kkgpu9WAiac?t=2m51s
Any ideas on where I could pick up that specific part? Would really rather not have to buy an entire new carb just because of one small faulty part. Thanks!
