Taz Taylor #Racing Brands Hatch GP
17-year-old Taz Taylor from Mansfield riding for the RS Racing KTM team had a stunning weekend at round six of the HEL Performance Motostar British Championship at the Brands Hatch GP Circuit. He secured a great win in race one and a close second in race two after the red flag stopped the race early.
Taz was to dominate again during both qualifying sessions and once again sat in pole position for the opening race on Saturday by 0.3. Once again he shot off the line and had a 1.3 second advantage from Scott Deroue after the opening lap. On lap four he broke the current lap record and extended his lead to 6.1 seconds on lap seven, once again he took a stunning win by five seconds from Deroue at the end of the 10-laps.
He lined up on pole again on Sunday for the main feature race. A strong start saw him fighting once again with Scott Deroue for the lead. Throughout the race the pair were never more than 0.1 apart, swapping positions once again on most laps they were fighting to the end. Taz looked strong and was set to make a move on Scott Deroue when the race was cut short on lap 12 due to an accident. With all red flagged situations the race is taken from the result as they crossed the line on the previous lap giving the win to Deroue by 0.04. Taz still leads the Championship by 13 points as we head to the next round at Thruxton he once again smashed the lap record at Brands Hatch.
Taz has gained a wildcard entry for the MotoGP race at Silverstone in August, the cost is around 10k and he is looking for some support - they have set up a GoFund page to help his cause for his one off ride - GoFund - Taz Taylor
Taz Taylor - "It was another really good weekend at Brands, I certainly can't complain at a win and second place and I am still leading the Championship. The second race was so close there was nothing between us on every lap; we managed to break away from third placed man by 15 seconds. It was a good battle and there were places I knew I was a little stronger and there were some where Scott was stronger. It was a shame the red flag came out as I'm sure the last lap would have been fun but that's racing.
I'm looking forward to getting to Thruxton next and having another close battle. Thanks again to everyone who has helped me this weekend and also if anyone wishes to help us with the wildcard entry at Silverstone then please let us know."
