Just guessed because I bought one 2 years ago at the show.

How is it holding up? Does it "soften" at all? Being brand new, it's pretty "sharp" and rough on my delicate skin.

So far so good.

It takes a very long time for ballistic nylon to soften. Wear a scarf.

Actually, the neck area is well padded and not abrasive. It's the arm holes I'm having issues with.

I always wear a soft long sleeved t-shirt or some other soft material.

Maybe you just need to wash it...take out the armour and wash in the machine on a gentle cycle...hang to dry.
