So I'm stumped. Here's the cockpit of one of our Ninjas:
What type of whiz-band or boondoggle does one use to secure a cell phone or dedicated GPS device somewhere in that nice? Or am I barking up the wrong tree? Better to use a magnetic tank bag with a clear "map pocket" for my device?

Hello! Which model of Ninja is it? If I'am right there is plastic cover on triple tree screw that you can take off and then install THIS. For me it is the simplest way to install phone/gps holder on a bike. Also it is easier to take a quick look if you put it there instead of on a tank and you do not need to take it off when you have to refill gas.

SK, it's a 2008 EX500R. Your recommendation is exactly what I was looking for, and I've added one to my Amazon wish list already. Thanks for the tip! Do you have any pics of your install? I'm curious how much clearance it leaves for the ignition key.

Great! Unfortunately I don't have pictures because I was doing the same thing with tank bag and map pocket. Recently I found this solution and hope so to install it this year. But from pictures on ebay it looks like the phone/gps is much higher then the key so there shouldn't be a problem.

Ahhhh, gotcha.
If you haven't purchased it yet, look on Amazon for less expensive iterations of this method. Just search "fork mount gps".

Another option for mounting gadgets to a motorcycle is a RAM mount. http://www.rammount.com/ use "motorcycle" to get to moto-specific mounts and gadget holders. I like that you can get a whole gadget rig, or go "a la carte." I've been using the X-clamp for my Galaxy S5 for two years. Before that, I also have a 10+ year old GPS that I still use in its original RAM mount.
