#Jerez #Track Report
What was the strategy for the Jerez race?
We knew that with today's higher temperature it would be difficult for Marc to keep the same pace that he had in practice and warm-up. Anyway, Vale and Jorge were very strong all weekend, so the strategy with Marc was to finish on the podium to get as many point as possible, and he achieved his target. Dani has struggled more during the weekend, so we knew his best result would be fourth, so we are happy that in a difficult weekend both riders got their target.
Positive points and negative points after the race?
One positive for sure was Dani's great start, from seventh on the grid to third in the first lap. Also it was positive the way Marc managed a difficult race, trying hard at the beginning but then showing maturity to keep his position without taking pointless risks. The negative, clearly, was that we didn't have the pace to fight for the win but… we will work hard to improve!
The view from pit wall during the race?
Until midrace, we hoped Marc would be able to manage a good second part of the race, as usually he is very strong with less rear grip. Unfortunately the main problem was the high temperature of the front tyre, so he was not in a position to take advantage of his strong point. We were pleased to see the way Dani managed the gap with Aleix Espargaro. He controlled him for the whole race and at the end he was able to open a safe gap to finish fourth.
Marc had a Japanese Flag with him on the podium. I am sure the Japanese fans are impressed by this. Can we have messages to the people who suffered from the earthquakes in Kumamoto area from Marc, Dani and Suppo-San?
Marc Marquez
“As I got the news about this earthquake I worried for my friends living in the area and all the Honda workers at Honda Kumamoto Factory. I've been proud to be able to bring the Japanese flag on the podium to show our support!”
Dani Pedrosa
“I wish to say to stay strong to all the people involved in the Kumamoto earthquake. I feel close to them and their families and I hope they can come back to the normal life very soon”
Livio Suppo
“As HRC MotoGP Factory team we wish to express our support to the victims of the earthquake and their families. We are sure that thanks to the strong attitude of Japanese people to face challenges, they will be able to recover from this disaster. Gambaro Kumamoto, Gambaro Kyusyu!”
