i can't "procreating" get a permit for a motorcycle till im 21 years old. i live in FL and this is bullshit. and this was suppost to be the motorcycle state.
Really? That sucks. Never knew that. Most places will allow you to ride at 16. Maybe you need to 'move' to another state that allows younger riders to get legal. Any relatives you can 'move in' with in another nearby state?
Florida doesn't allow you to get a learners permit if you are under 21, true, but they will endorse your license once you take the MSF.
I think that's a good law. So quit whining and take the MSF like virtually everyone on the forum recommends!!!
HOW TO OBTAIN A MOTORCYCLE ENDORSEMENT
* Add a motorcycle endorsement to an existing Florida driver license:
1. Pass the motorcycle knowledge and skill tests, or
2. Successfully complete a motorcycle rider safety course. (Under 21 years of age must attend a rider safety course before being licensed to ride a motorcycle.)
* Obtain a motorcycle (temporary) "Instruction Permit" restricted to "No Passengers".
1. Must be 21 years of age or older
2. Hold or obtain (at least) a Class E driver license.
3. Pass the motorcycle knowledge test.
The passenger restriction is removed upon successful completion of the skill test or upon successful completion of the motorcycle safety course.
“People demand freedom of speech as a compensation for the freedom of thought which they seldom use.”
- Soren Kierkegaard (19th century Danish philosopher)
Aaahhh, I see, that's a whole different kettle o' fish than not allowing riders under 21. I can't say that only letting younger riders loose after they take the MSF is a bad idear at all.
So take the course and get endorsed. You know ya wanna.
Yeah, but you get training for that too. I wholeheartedly agree with kids under 21 having to take the MSF, especially since I think everyone should take it.
It looks like maybe you can go straight to the msf if you are under 21, but to get a "permit", allowing you to ride around alone without instruction, you need to be a licensed driver over 21...I'd check further with an MSF instructor to be sure. Of course, 21 is a teen in Florida..
This is a nonissue - go take the MSF. Operating a motorcycle is more difficult and more dangerous than driving a car - I have no problem with stiffer requirements. It's still accessible to every single person who wishes to ride one so I don't see any discrimination here. Want to ride a motorcycle legally? Ok, but you have to get training first.
