Helmet Habits
I'm curious to see what people actually spend on their helmets, so I'm running this poll. It'll be something to do or talk about during the slow season too.
Responses are, of course, anonymous, but if you want to sound off feel free to do so.
New purchases only. Don't include responses for helmets you bought used. Also, respond with the actual price paid. If you bought a helmet that's regularly $200 for $115 on a great discount, respond at the $115 amount.
Thanks for participating!

I buy $200-$400 helmets in the $100-$200 range when I can find 'em on sale, closeout, etc.

Re: Helmet Habits
I have five helmets, all bought new for $100 or less. Of course...I don't wear any of them, but after a 12yr hiatus from this forum nobody is left of the old group to run me out of here for it!

LoL, I'll admit it was a shock to see a screen name I'd never seen before with a Legendary 3000 tag!
I'm glad you came back, could've used some of that cruiser mojo around when I was still on my Vulcan.

Re: Helmet Habits
Boredom really. The Vulcan Bagger forum is full of AARP members buying trikes because they lost a foot to the dye-uh-beetus...the Suzuki Savage forum is full of Post Count Cowboys...the EX500 forum is a group of good-ol'-boys who've been riding this beginner bike for ten years and don't take kindly to "newbies" like me...this forum was HOPPING back in the day...I miss it sometimes...but I was very angry at the time (divorce/single dad) and I took it out on the forum quite a bit...if you look back at my posts from 12yrs ago, it ain't pretty. To be honest, I have no business coming back here, but I'm a completely different person living a far better way of life now, and I was curious what had become of TMW and I'm really sad to see it like this. I'm not on FB, it's a terrible app but nobody seems to notice or care. If the forums die off, that's a wrap for me, I'm not following everyone over to that nightmare.JackoftheGreen wrote: ↑Sun Dec 29, 2019 5:30 amI'm glad you came back, could've used some of that cruiser mojo around when I was still on my Vulcan.Out of curiosity, what prompted you to drop back in? Getting the forum active again is kinda a goal of mine, everyone's on FB Groups these days I think.

Re: Helmet Habits
I used to go to a local dealer to get a new helmet, always looking for sales.
Now, without such a stocking dealer, I need to buy on line. I've tried twice
in the last year to try different brand/sizes with no luck.
Perhaps I should make a new post. I really want to hear what everyone
else is doing. Has anyone found a cross reference old helmet to likely
new one?

That's the current gold standard in getting a feel for helmet fit. I haven't tried them myself because I've had pretty good luck online, but from the reviews they really nail it. They send you a kit and some instructions.

Re: Helmet Habits
As you see, it's pretty dead. There's still a handful of the old gang about, but they mostly just lurk now. I drop in every few months to see if anything's going on.
Agree with you about FB. They couldn't pay me to use that thing.

$200-$400. Though I usually go with the best fit before price.
