Is this a good deal for a Honda CB550-4?

#1 Unread post by amodoko »

Does anyone know if an '83 Honda Night Hawk CB550-4 that is running well and being sold for 800 bucks is a good deal? I don't have any other details on it but in general, is that a good price or is that too low or too high? I was thinking about maybe making that my first bike. Thanks.

If that's in really good shape and the mileage isn't too high, (in other words, nearly mint) that's not a bad price. If it needs anything at all, or is cosmeticly hurting, I'd offer 500.00

Wow, is that all they're worth down there?

A good condition Nighthawk 550 would go for around $1500+ here in B.C.

I owned a 75 in the late 70's and it was a great bike. If it runs well and doesn't need to much (tires, rubber and plastic parts) sounds like a pretty good deal. Mine had a vance & hines 4 into 1 pipe so i imagine it was a bit stronger then stock, but still even stock it should be pretty good.

Yeah, let us know!

Any Honda 4 in really good shape is worth 800 bucks. Decent starter bike too.

What he said. Even if it's messed up, it'll still run another 100,000 miles on that Honda engine! They just don't seem to quit.

i just bought my 83 cb550 for 975 bucks and i think i got a good deal. mine had 11,000 miles on it and a few cosmetic flaws, but no regrets. the consensus seems to be that hondas make great starter bikes.

once again, thanks guys for the information. The honda I wanted was sold when I contacted the guy, so I couldn't get it. But I'm going to wait until I find another cb550-4, cuz I think I want that as my starter bike since everyone seems to think it's a good one to start with, and because I have a better idea of how much to pay. Thanks again.
