Hi all. I've been a longtime rider but only have limited knowledge in performance mods. I recently bought a 2024 Z 900 RS. I'm going to install a slip on exhaust. I know it's plug and play but I'd like to remove engine restrictions. I'd like to tune it also but want to keep real world street riding (mid range) character. I'm not a horsepower roadracer type, hence slip on vs full exhaust.
Basically I want a better sound with the slip on, better throttle response in the low range.
Is there a benefit to do both a ECU flash and a power commander or will the ECU flash perfectly suffice in all riding conditions? Thanks in advance.

Re: Tuners and ECU flash
An ECU flash alone should be enough to unlock some more power and improve throttle response on your Z900RS with the slip-on exhaust. The flash will adjust the fuel and ignition maps to account for the new airflow. I'd try just the flash first before adding a power commander. You may be surprised at how much better it feels. The tuner doing the flash can tailor it for your type of street riding too without going overboard on top end power. If after the flash you want some extra fine tuning control, then a power commander could help dial it in better. But I think the flash alone will do the trick.

What particular slip-on are you looking at? We got Yoshimura slip-on from 4Wheelonline for the bike and loving the drone sound.
