Well, two of us purchased custom choppers back in April, I have had no problems and very pleased with my bike. However my friends bike has nothing but problems. Specifically "oil" leaks from the TP 124" motor.
Long story short Exotix, RPcustom and TP. are not interested in customer satisfaction.
Is this the norm in the custom bike world ???

I would hope it's not the norm. I daresay that since custom buyers are typically willing to pay double what a sane person would pay for a lump of steel and chrome, the custom vendors probably make a tidy enough profit. Enough to ignore their customers anyway.
Has your friend discovered the source of the leaks? Perhaps he just has some pooched gaskets? On the other hand, when you've got those two huge umbrellas pushing pulses of air into the crankcase, improper venting could cause a seal to blow as well...
Make sure crank vents are clear ... and wash the engine, use something like baby powder to trace the leak and go from there.

Shop to determine the leaks, as you noted it seems to be high pressure issue and venting. We are just frustrated on the amount of time and effort put forth to get this bike back on the road.
More research with dealer responsibilities and accountabilities to whom will repair what in the event of problems was not considered. Bike was purchaced strickly on "looks"... Big mistake and lessons learned.

I think ill avoid the custom chopper market for the next lifetime.
After having seen American Chopper I would never trust a chopper builder to stand by their bikes. Half of an OCC bike is farmed out to contractors, so in the event that something breaks they just need to blame the contractor that they farmed it out to. I am pretty sure this is the standard operating practice for the custom chopper industry.
If im going to pay that much for a bike it BETTER have a full factory warranty. I think that Big Dog would be the exception in the chopper business in that they do have a warranty on their bikes (at least I think they do)
