Yep. I think if you take the deal they offered, that's just about the same as the deal you'd have gotten anyway. I'd make them fix your bike if that's all you're gonna get out of it - and give you a loaner while that's being done. Then you can sell it privately and make a better deal with more cash in your pocket. They screw you so bad on the trade-in you're better off selling it anyway.

Thanks for all the feedback...as you can tell by the change in name, I now am the proud papa of an 05 ZX-10R. I ended up almost $2,000 below the dealer cost (not MSRP) on the bike and they gave me a $600 dollar allowance for a helmet. All in all I'm happy with the deal and the new bike...But I do so hate break-in periods :D
