Oklahoma ride reports & future events

#1 Unread post by sprinter »

Before I get into the information, I want everyone to know riders from other areas are always welcome and would like to extend a special invitation to all of you to our 3rd annual state picnic, September 10th. There is more information below. If you would like to attend please let me know and I'll furnish any information you might need, directions, etc.

Ride reports:

Thursday August 26 - OKC Family Bike Nite
It was a little hot when we left Del City, but it was very nice as long as you were moving and by the time we got to Arcadia it was really nice out. Although Arcadia is only about 30 minutes away by any direct route, my route to Arcadia is a little longer, takes about an hour and is pretty scenic. We ride through Spencer past the wildlife preserve (there were lots of lama's and 3 camels when we rode by), through Jones, then Hogback Road to Luther, then we got our kicks on Route 66 for a few miles. It's a pretty nice route, one I came up with three years ago and I still enjoy it every time.

We had a good turnout in Del City, I believe we had 12 bikes and 15 riders, more of our regular riders met us at Hillbillie's in Arcadia 4 bikes and 6 riders. I'll try to remember all the riders and bikes, Dana - Honda CB650 Custom, the Hudsons - HD Road King, Fireman Jim & Shirley - Yamaha V-Start Classic, Jane Anne - Honda Helix, Curby - Honda CB350T, Ellis - Kawasaki KZ650, Jim & Barb - Gold Wing, Don - Honda Hawk, Terry - Honda CM185, the Hall's - custom Honda VTX, Dan - Vulcan, Leeann - Kawasaki 125 Eliminator, Bob - Suzuki GT750 café racer.

Plus Delphin & Laura Coots brought the Iron Messengers riding group with them, so there were approximately 40 bikes and 50 riders total. We had it all from Harley's to a Honda scooter. Except for part of our group getting slow service everything went pretty well and all had a good time.

Saturday August 27 -CMSR 4th Saturday ride
There was a threat of rain, but it was nice out and we had 9 bikes and 10 riders show up at High Performance Printing to make the trip to Kountry Fried Chicken in Shawnee. Bike and riders were the Hudsons - HD Road King, Dan - Yamaha Maxim, Leeann - Kawasaki 125 Eliminator, Curby - Honda CB360T, Jane Anne - Honda Helix, Bob - Suzuki GT750 café racer, Chip - cruiser (I didn't get the make), Terry Kawasaki KZ750, Mr. Ed & Jessie on their matching Suzuki Burgman scooters

The ride and weather turned out really nice. Shawnee is only about 25 miles from Midwest City, I turned our rind into about 80 miles round trip. We rode from Midwest City through McLoud and Dale on our way to Shawnee. The thr trip back we rode north near Meeker then head west past the Kickapoo gambling, through Harrah, Choctaw, Nicoma Park, Shady Nook, Crutcho Creek and back to Midwest City.

I think everyone enjoyed their food and actually several people enjoyed Bob's food, he got a bloomin' onion type thing and shared it with several people and still had a lot left over. If you weren't there you missed a really nice ride with near perfect weather.

Next event:
Thursday September 1 - OKC Family Bike Nite
Our monthly visit to Coots BBQ, 3529 N. Shields, Moore
Group ride: meet on the south side of the Del City Albertson's (SE 29th & Sunnylane) between 6:15-6:30 PM, we will leave promptly at 6:30 PM.
Or you can meet us at Coots BBQ, we should be there about 7:15 PM
Don't have a bike or can't ride, drive it will be a great time.
Last time we ran out of places to sit so Delphin (Coots) has added more tables and chairs. This will be a fairly larger gathering as the Iron Messengers will be there also.
All bike and scooter welcome!

Don't forget to make plans to attend our 3rd Annual CMSR - VJMC State Picnic in Cushing September 10th. We will meet and leave from my shop like a regular Saturday ride I will be driving my pickup to carry the food and towing a bike or two. If you have a small bike tow it over, besides the picnic we're having a 30-mile scenic ride of the area. The last two picnics have been a blast with big turnouts from the OKC and Tulsa area riders. PS there is no membership required and all are welcome, heck bring the whole family. More details to come soon.

Don (Tulsa leader) and I would appreciate it if all who are planning to attend the picnic let us know so we can get an approximate head count so we know how many people to plan for.
That’s it for now, ride em if you got em!
