No need to be so angry, that show is still on TV.9000white wrote: the disappearance of law and order is what happened to the ones old enough to even remember what that means.

I don't see many pictures of people taking food so why don't you stop making excuses for these dirtbags. They're taking advantage of the devastation of their own city to hook themselves up with sneakers and TVs.iwannadie wrote:even when its food? the store cant resell food tahts been in a flood, its throw it away or let people eat it, makes no sense to me to waste it.oldnslo wrote:Looters should be shot on sight. No mercy whatsoever.
Shooting is too good for them, but it is quick and efficient and would allow the police and Nat. Guard to get back to search and rescue.
Even after a hurricane, the law is still the law.
And the law means due process.
Arrest the scumbag looters, put 'em in a temporary jail, then try them in court. Or just bus them the hell out of there.
But shoot them on sight? You people make me sick. Ever hear about having the punishment fit the crime?
Sure, if a looter points a gun at a cop who challenges him/her, then by all means, officer, fire away.
But to immediately impose the death penalty for the theft of a TV? That's just frickin' insane.
And I wonder if there's racism involved here...

Hopefully they can get the situation under control with all these additional troops. I watched the news last night - saw a lot of devastated people and I feel horrible for them. I also saw a lot of complete and total dirtbags. How in the world can you be worried about getting a new TV when hundreds or more are dying or trapped? How could you be that close and be worried about getting a new TV instead of trying to help your neighbors?
I'm not a capital punishment guy in general but I do have some standards for myself... if we ever have the big earthquake in Seattle that everyone says will come one day and you see me on the news carrying a TV out of the wrecked mall when thousands of my neighbors are suffering... feel free to shoot me.

Punishment fit the crime? That would also include an eye for an eye, tooth for tooth.......suits me. I've always believed murderers should be killed.
As for looters, threats of being shot for doing it are probably an ineffective deterrent, but you tell me where a temporary jail can be set up or why looters should take precedent over victims in getting out of the area. What cops I've seen [damned few] are busy just trying to stay alive, can't communicate with each other, and are perfectly willing to just watch while looters do their thing. National Guard? I don't know where they can hide 21,000 of them, but they seem to be hidden someplace, or are excruciatingly slow in getting to the scene, and have no equipment besides some obsolete rifles.
Nobody is stopping the looters much so I guess that must be their version of "due process".
Feel free to post the law relative to looting and "due process" in these circumstances. I am sure we would all like to know. I think it might be laid out under "martial law", which is a condition close to being imposed down there.

They aren't stealing bread, they are stealing furs and jewlery and tvs. Don't you watch the news?
Don't give me that "oh their poor and trying to survive" crap. They are breaking into Nieman Marcus for God's sake.
Those are the same guys that are shooting at the Helocopters outside the superdome. Martial law means no due process, OBEY OR BE SHOT.
They need the National Guard in place ASAP to take control of the scum bags.
