I hear you. My unit went to an Alaskan airbase for a week-long deployment exercise back in 1987. I stayed back in N.Y. to watch my daughter arrive in the world. Anyway, the guys said the expanse of "tundra" and other unused land was unbelievable, even at B-52 training sortie speeds.

Ride safe...God bless!

We'd all be better off (well, future generations - we'll probably be alright) if we put more of an emphasis on developing alternative power sources and technologies instead of trying to squeeze out every last drop of oil, 'cause it ain't gonna last!
Having said that and with our current gas prices, I gotta say that I am so glad I bought my bike - I've saved a ton of money not driving my truck.
Where I'm at gas is $2.99 / gallon and will surely be over $3 today.

Was watching Trucks the other day on Spike, and he was making Bio Deisel with a pump sorta set up that he bought (dont remember the name of the manufacturer, but Im sure a google search would do fine) looked kinda pricey, but after all was said and done, he was driving a dodge turbo diesel soley on this bio stuff made from old vegetable oil, for about 70 cents a gallon. looked interesting. if only I could make regular unleaded out of it.

Diesels really are the best alternative at the moment (IMO)
A few yearss ago I set up a 1964 Mercedes diesel to run on straight vegetable oil - really easy conversion using junkyard parts. All diesels can run on Biodiesel or SVO. Just a matter of actually doing it.

My sister lives in Alaska and I recently asked here about the whole Anwr deal. She's a Phd geologist and wrote her dissertation on the field. It is so remote that it makes Siberia look like a family vacation. Just getting anything in or out is totally impractical and cost-prohibitive. If it wasn't for that we would've drilled there long ago. I'm sure if prices continue as they are someone will figure out how to make it work.
I've always thought that we could grow enough corn in the midwest to make enough bio-oil or alcohol to fuel plenty of cars. Just imagine all those farmers driving around in their Rollsroyces...
