2 up touring question
2 up touring question
We are looking at buying a 2005 Suzuki c90 for 2 up touring and one up cruising,. I weight about 195 and my wife weights about 130 is the 1500 cc 90ci motor on the c90 going to get the job done?

A 600 would tend to lack, but certainly anything 750 or over is sure to have more than enough power. Of course, engine displacement is a very poor measure of a motorcycle's power. Besides that, your biggest issue is not engine power (unless you're looking at the 500 or under crowd), but rather physical size and space. I don't know the bike you speak of, so I can't help you there. Go for a big bike if you're riding two up on a regular basis, preferably with a low centre of gravity (ie, like a Goldwing, BMW, Harley Davidson, etc.), but don't even bother with the engine size. Get something with a long wheelbase, wide width (especially in the seats), good luggage capacity, and strong suspension.

Comfort and useability is far more important for touring than power. When you tour you have to be as smooth as possible, throwing the bike around will tire you and your pillion very quickly. Anything over 750 that has a touring type tag will be good. Cruisers can be great touring bikes if you like to smell the flowers, but if you are serious about long distances look at those bikes that have been designed for the job. The TL 1000 has massive amounts of power but you can only ride it for an hour or two. The BMW 1200 GT will still reach 250kms but can tour at 230 all day without you getting fatigued.
