I got mine for LESS than the Yamaha... the salesman at the dealer didn't know much about it, 'cept it was the last one left and he wanted it off the showroom floor. He said it was "polluting the atmosphere" (they had a bunch of those "Boss Hoss" V-8 bikes and a bunch of build a bikes there.)
He didn't even know what the buttons on the speedo were for, told me they were "punch outs, so when you add accesory lights and stuff."
I paid less than six grand out the door for an '03!
Way to make a sale!

Yeah I double talked the guy and confused him...I think he was really hung over, or just got in from his second job as a homeless guy.
I paid just under six grand when I bought it new in '03.
Anyhow, I thought I got the deal of the century on the only new bike I've ever bought.
I went on a ride with my brother this past Monday, he's got a Dyna Convertable. 310 miles through the Allegenys. His bikes been in the shop half the summer for cam work. Poor guy only put 400 iles on it all year!

The C50 has been around a long time as the "Volusia 800", and the aftermarket support is plentiful. Once equipped with bags, lightbar, sissy bar, and windshield it looks as much like the V-Star 1100 Silverado as it possibly could without downright copying it. My Dad has the C50 and my brother-in-law the V-Star 1100 Classic. They are both similarly equipped and look and ride darn near the same.chris66 wrote:Just took a quick look at the suzuki c50 on thier website, that bike does have a lot a features for the money, I dont think it looks as good as the vstar in the photo, but I am definately gonna check it out at the dealer an see how it feels
Is there a lot a aftermarket parts for this bike?
If the Silverado look is what you're after, look at a C50t. The "t" means it's already equipped with all the touring goodies, as well as some stylin' white-walls.

I liked the looks of the V-Star 650 and the fact that it had floorboards. When I was new bike shopping, I never even knew the Volusia existed... I went to look at the Marauder/M50, but it was a bit small for two up riding. The salesman wanted me to look at a Volusia that he had in the back and I said "What's a Volusia?" He said blah blah blah....something something, I'll sell it to you for the same price. (The Marauder/M50 was on sale at the time.) I bought the Volusia on the spot.
I am happy I went with the Volusia/C-50 since it's has all the goods I want- Like Liquid cooling, shaft drive and a few more cc's. Plus, I've always been a Suzuki man since I broke my neck on one in 1983....
The looks of the C-50 grow on you.
I probably own the only stock Volusia in the country! No add on's no nothin'!
O.K., I punched the pipes.....
