Site looks great, and after reading some of the posted information, I had to join. Taking the MSF course in the next month, and looking forward to contributing/entertaining with tales of my experience.

Glad to hear you're getting started with MSF. I was in Dallas a few months ago, and I was shocked by the number of riders without helmets. I hope you plan to be in the Texas rider minority of helmet wearers. I'm sure they will drill that in at MSF anyway.
Any idea what kind of bike you're going to get, or do you already have one?

Thanks for the welcome. I've tentatively signed up for the April 9-10 class (may have to reschedule to another weekend in April based upon availability). I've been putting it off for a year now, and I've got no more excuses. In response to an above post, I've seen a LOT of bikers around here without helmets. Basically, in Texas, if you pay $5 to DOT and fill out a form saying you've taken the MSF course, you get a waiver for the helmet law. Pretty stupid. If you've seen the number of people here without helmets, you've also seen the number of people negligently driving on our highways. You couldn't pay me to not wear one when the time comes.
I'm 6'3", 175 lbs, so I'm probably looking for a standard/cruiser type. I guess when the time comes, I'll ride whatever feels the most comfortable. Right now I know I want to ride; I just need to know if I can ride.
