I have a mod for you about High Rev engine, get a good pair of Ear Plugs. LOL.

Seriously V-Star is made to rev very high, there is a rev limiter so you don't have to worry if you will damage the engine, I have done a rev limit test a couple times, 1st gear is will shut off at 30mph, 2nd at 50mph and 3rd at around 70mph.

I cruise at 80-90mph a lot of FWY, I always have ear-plug on at that speed or when I know I will be riding long distance. I never have problem with my V-star. the top speed on my Custom is around 100mph.

Maybe this is a stupid question for you, but why didn't you buy the 1100 or a sport bike if you want to "cruise at 80 with a little left for passing"?

Passing what?

How long have you been riding?
