Need the help of some vets

#1 Unread post by los8 »

My roomate and I are looking into buying a pair of bikes for the both of us. Originally we were set on getting R6s but as I have read on a couple of forums I realize that might not be the wisest choice, considering we have not riding experience. Its about 50/50 in terms of peoples responses. Anyway I wanted to know what is a good starter bike. I've looked into the suzuki GS500 and actually like it. Lots of people seem to say its a good starter and suzuki itself says the same any opinions? What are some other starter bikes to consider. Also might as well throw this out there, what are the least expensive insurance options out there.

Welcome to the forum!

Any of the 500's will be well-suited for learning on without causing buyer's remorse too early on. The Suzuki GS500, Kawasaki Ninja 500R, and Kawasaki Vulcan 500 are all good choices.

Ditto. If you weigh 135 like my son, you may fall in love with the vulcan, and just keep it. He has a cbr600 hurricane, and today i saw him out riding the Vulcan 500. Looks big with him on it, and it really goes, too.
Ride safe...God bless!

I weigh 230 and my 250cc is quite enjoyable. A gs500 will do you fine. Ninja 500's are good too.
