see the 2 stickys at the top of the new bikers forum.

Neither of those bikes is well suited to a new rider.

I would start with a used bike that you wont have too many worries about if you drop it. You certainly wouldn't want to scratch up a brand new bike in the process of learning to ride.

What do you think about doing a little research on the topic by searching through the boards. This subject has come up over and over and all the information you need about first bikes can be found there. Then if you have specific questions please ask.

Unless you plan on keeping the bubble wrap around the bike, and stuffing the packing peanuts down your pants while you learn to ride it..

I'd aim lower.

I would say either but to have to read about another squid smeared all over the road will only be detrimental to the already shaky public perception of motorcycling.

Yes you may be new and you are entitled to ask the question, ergo we are entitled to our opinion, and you sound like an accident waiting to happen. Motorcycling is a an art form that compares to an experianced rider being Picasso, you meanwhile are still playing with crayons.
I spent my therapy money an a K1200S
The therapy worked, I got a GS now
A touch of insanity crept back in the shape of an R1200R
