Second bike

#1 Unread post by Zuzz »

Hi, I've got a question. I've had my Ninja 250 for little bit less than a year and I'm ready for an upgrade.
The other day I rode my friend's Katana 600 and liked it a lot. What I liked about his bike was stability and of course power, compared to my 250. :)
I was also looking at Kawasaki ZX-6R, ZZ-R 600 and Yamaha YZF 600 or R6.
I've tried (just sat on) friend's Honda CBR 600, and it's a bit too aggressive seating for me.
I'm 5'8", so tall bike won't work.
Any suggestions about other bikes I've mentioned?

Thank you.

I have an '89 Suzuki Katana 600 as my second bike. While I only put about 300 miles on it before tearing into it for repairs and whatnot, I think it'd be a great second bike. It puts out plenty of power for me to stay happy, keeps glued in the corners and has a very very comfortable seat and riding position. It splits the difference between sports bike and sport-tourer and does a fine job, in my opinion.

The ZX-6R, R6, and GSXR-600 will all share the CBRs uncomfortable riding position as they are all basically just barely legal race bikes.

Definately cant go wrong with the Katana. Has about 95% of the above mentioned bikes performance and is way more comfortable, and less expensive to boot.

Thanx a lot, guys.
I'll start looking for Katana.

The ZZR 600 (pre-95) and the YZF600 have similair riding positions to the Katana, but sharper handling (especially the YZF)and more power. I would start with those two if I were you.
