#1 Unread post by zerocool »

Hi, my 81 Kawasaki LTD 440 is having some serious problems? It is starting to supter when going only 45 mph in 6th gear :( I added a little dry gas and put in so higher octance fuel thinking I may have got some bad gas :( Well that is not the case! The bike was just in 2 months ago for a tune up and valves adjusted :( My dad sugested replacing the spark plugs? What are people's thoughts?

45mph in 6th gear almost sounds like you might be lugging the engine.

What rpm's are you turning at that speed in Sixth??

Eh, my kz550 LTD is supposed to be in 6th by 35 MPH. Its at about 3k rpm at that point. I dont imagine his would be too much off of that mark.

Do you have your choke on by chance? When mine is on, the bike does some odd stuff like it doesnt get any power when i give it more than a 1/4 throttle. Just a though.

I hate to ask, but are you sure the dealer changed the plugs? I know a few that wouldn't have.

Try new plugs (do it yourself this time) and make sure you use the proper gap.
