bike suddenly not starting... could it be the starter motor?

Assuming all your connections are good, if you are getting a single click it may be the starter solenoid itself. I used to rebuild alternators and starters for cars. As the solenoid gets older the contacts inside tend to start sticking which will lead to a single audible click. Never played with bike starters but if its anything like what I used to work on you may be able to take the solenoid apart and replace/clean/flip the copper contacts over to get some more life out of it.

i took a meter to the solenoid output and when i tried to start the bike, the solenoid would output ~12.3 volts.... isint this evidence that the solenoid itself is working perfectly or am i missing something?
