I've got a Yamaha XT250 street leagal dirt bike. It takes a 6 volt battery to run the lights. Mice ate through some of my electrical wires which lead to my taillight and turn signals. I've spliced them back together with 18 gauge 12 volt wire. Now when I turn on the turn signals the taillight bulb goes very dim and the blinkers hardly light up. I'm sure the problem lies within the wire I used to spliced the severed wires together.
Any solutions would be greatly apprieciated.
If the batt has 6 caps it i s a 12 volt batt. Are you using a trickle charger? If using a regular charger for big batts use the lowest setting and don't charge for over a few minutes.
Battery has 3 caps. I put it on a trickle charger which seems to help but the taillight still dims while the turn signal is on. Just wondering if there is a smaller gauge of wire i could use, smaller than 18 gauge.
Is there any 6 volt wire on the market with certain gauge sizes?
What year is this bike? I would have bet it was a 12 volt system... maybe it is, if you catch my meaning. Wire don't really care what voltage it is carrying, just how many amps. So matching the guage should be all you need.
