RE: 1986 Yamaha Virago 1100- Is this a good price?
I have been looking to get back into a bike (had 6-7 bikes from 1976-1992) and have been looking at a 86 yamaha virago 1100. It has only 2200 miles. The owner rarely drove it and to me it looks to be in excellent shape. It was in storage for several years and the owner told me he spent a couple of hundred bucks on a tune-up ,oil change and getting out the gunk that had accumulated in the fuel system a couple years ago. I rode it briefly today and it seemed fine to me. My question is he wants $3000.00 for it and I am curious if a Virago owner could tell me if this is a reasonable price. Thanks Pete

Having had a Virago I think that I might show up with 2 grand in $100 bills and see if he would bite .

Seems pricy to me. A nearly 20 yr old bike w/ only 2200 miles on it means that you are going to have some issues from the bike setting so long.
He's priced it like it's a collector's item
I agree w/ Wizz. Take cash (cept I'd only go w/ 1500) and be willing to walk away. There are PLENTY of other bikes out there.
- Nada lists this bike at average retail of $1460 even w/ low mileage that's about what I'd pay for it. As an experienced mechanic, I can tell you there will probably be issues w/ it in the near future if you get it back on the road and ride it often.
