petrol-resistant flat (matt) paints?
Do such paints exist? Wld like to try something different than the usual glossy polyurethane paints. thanks!

Varethane makes a good quality paint that is fuel resistant. I have no idea if they make a flat black (I suspect they do) but you could spray a gloss black then cut the gloss with a scotch pad. Typically the gloss paints are more durable (harder) then the semi gloss or flat. Can't recall why but that is the consensus.

Gloss paint is shiny due to the hard, smooth layer it forms at the surface when drying. This layer blocks liquid and keeps it on the outside of the paint.
Flat paint is porus(that's why it's not shiny) so any solvents like fuel can just saturate the whole paint layer and break the chemical bonds holding the paint together. Or something along those lines.....
