ER-6N, Europes naked Ninja 650R

#1 Unread post by kerryb »

When I first looked into getting a starter sportbike, this is the one I fancied. The Kawasaki ER-6N, is touted on the bikes specific website as being a good bike for beginners(they use them in their training schools), good for young people and women. So I thought when the farring version came to the US, it would be aimed at the same market. But having read a few other posts, it seems not. The bikes have the same specs, as far as I can tell, so is the euro market different, does this bike have different specs for its release here in the US?

Sometimes its tricky sorting out the marketing jargon from market to market. I believe the bikes are basically the same, except for the Ninja having a full fairing, maybe other minor differences.

The Ninja 650R should be considered a decent bike to learn on, but not the best. The Ninja was made to directly compete with the SV650, a highly recommended novice bike.

I read lots of UK biking magazines, so Im getting used to what bikes are called on both sides of the Atlantic.
