my 1997 zx-7r

#1 Unread post by zx7r »

hi wats up guys i need some help i just bought a 1997 kaw. ninja zx7r from my friend and was very happy until 2 months later. the bike just shut off on me one day when i moved up my drive way. i tried to start the bike back up and nothing was working. i turned the key to on postion and no lights on gauge cluster where on like the neutral light or oil light. so i figured it was battery or something. checked wasnt battery had a full charge. then i took it to local bike and they said the wiring on the bike was all messed up and the bike wasnt getting any spark. so i said try to fix it he said its going to need a knew cdi box. so he installed the new cdi box. the bike ran for about 3 weeks when the same "poo poo" happened again. but the thing is when i got the bike back from shop it seemed slower than before and when i would put the bike in 6th gear on the highway it slow down instead of speed up. i would have the gas full thorle and still it was slowing down. and sometimes it would jerk while riding. i called the guy back from the local shop and he said the bikes wiring was too messed up and it would need a knew wiring harness but then when i called back he said he doesnt want to get involed with this bike. now what i please need for u guys because i know "poo poo" about bikes is what can be worng and what should i do. when my friend had the bike it never gave him a problem.

This is why i will never buy a used sportbike. :?

Sorry dude. It Could be a CDI issue at the top end. it could be that one of your main jets has fallen out, thus causing the bike to bog out on the top end. It could be a combination of all of the above ... or It could be that your "friend" did some real damage to the bike and sold it to you.

Find a technician who will work on it for you, and prepare to Pay.
