How many miles do you ride?

In another topic (Chains vs shaft) Sevulturus wrote.....and needs to be tightened every 5000. For me that's only a couple months of riding

This made me wonder...whats the normal riding mileage for other members of this board.....

To make it fair, let's not include work mileage, but the stuff we do for fun.

To start!
I've had my bike since the third week of March and have approximately 4200 mi on it..... thats about 525 miles a month...of course lovin' every minute of it....

I got my bike about the middle/end of June and would put exactly 18km round trip on it to and from work 3 or 4 times every week. I had 12 hour rotating shifts that averaged to 42 hours worked every week so I had more days off...

You need to remember though that I'm talking Km here which is a big difference from miles. And I should say that a couple is 2 or 3 to me.

Anyways. I did that all summer: Which accounts for about 218km. So lets call it 400km of what I did. The rest is all for fun, my Aunt and Uncle ride, all my best friends ride and we love to do it. So we'll go any chance we get. Every Sunday (I got 2 a month)I had off I would take a long trip, usually 500-600 km on a planned ride. From there any time I had time I would go out. To day from June-Now I've got 7300km about 4562 miles on the bike. Which seems relatively impressive to me.

Then again my Uncle just got his new goldwing about a week before I did and he's got 24000. Yes 24 thousand km on his, of course he was able to take time off for a 2 week ride down to Dragon's Neck? The really popular place which tacked an extra 12000km onto his bike that I would liked to have had.

by contrast, I rode 1100 miles in under 2 weeks while I was home - and would have ridden more if it hadn't been for Hurricane Rita! I check my chain slack before every ride though - and adjust as needed (it needed it before I drove to Austin my last few days home).

I got my first bike at age 52 and retired at age 62 and rarely rode it to work, so I'd call almost all my miles fun miles although some were more fun than others.

I've averaged just under 16k miles per year for the past 21 years. I ride year around here in NE OH and normaly that would include about 1k miles total for the three winter months of Dec, Jan, and Feb and 2-3k miles per month in the summer.

I rode about 6,000 miles this summer and still ride during warmer nites. Most of this miles were to & from work, but hey I had fun while riding.

I was riding between 1220 and 1500 mile/month. Then I had some health issues, and gas went up, too. So I started a project on the bike, to compensate. My riding has dropped significantly this summer/Fall, but every ride is even more interesting, because I'm testing new things on my bike...things, I've made myself. My rides are only 60 miles, or less, where they used to be over 100...almost every day. Now they may be every other day, or even three days apart, but I really appreciate my riding time. The other day Chris and I rode a little over 30 miles together for the first time in quite some time. Most of it was around town and some nearby twisty backroads, but it was the greatest. How you do it has alot to do with your enjoyment of the sport after you've piled up a bunch of miles for experience.

I probably ride about 1K a month. My bike is my primary vehicle now, with the Jeep sitting in the garage most of the time.

Surprised to hear about people not riding because of rising gas prices...thats the reason I bought a bike!

I ride to work and back, and to run any errands that don't involve taking the wife or hauling something big. On the weekends sometimes I just go out and ride for a while.

I drive a diesel truck in my business...$3.26 a gallon. The bike is purely a luxury item, and a cheap one at that. I ride it for pleasure only, and the physical part is the bigger reason my miles dropped. I have rheumatoid arthritis, and it really gets worse in these days we're having with the 30-35 degree temperature swings. Probably most folks with a bike are riding it more, regarding fuel pricing.

About 16,000 miles a year on the Suzuki
And 3,000 miles a year on the Hyosung.

All year round for all purposes. I don't drive.

The ride comes first: the price of petrol is immaterial as far as I am concerned - except as something to gripe about.

Coming up on 9k miles since mid march. Average 12mi/day 5 days a week are school/work miles. I don't want to do the math so I'll just say they're all fun.
