The ZZR-600 is basically a 2002 ZX-6 with 98bhp. Im sure that a person who shows riding aptitude could learn on it, but its probably not a "recommended beginner bike".

right you are

dont know why, but I have always assumed the ZZR range to be light on on kW...my bad.

great kabob alot of good info there. heres a question. what is a good amount of hp for a beginner? i hear some people say 70 is too much. which is fine i just need a point of reference. also i was looking at the ninja 250, is 250cc a little to weak? i mean will i get bored with it soon and want a faster bike or is there a better model to recomend. by the way shane-o, thanks for the tips on the power output. any books or other info you would recomend? i am going to talk to a couple dealers tomorrow, just to get a feel. thanks guys.

250cc bikes are a good place for a begginer rider to make a start.

As you improve your skills, it would make sense to wanna trade up in power.

There is nothing wrong with starting on a good commuter (250), you only have one life, the roads are not like video games, one mistake can cost you everything.

You sound like you are responsible, so good luck with your choises.

Have fun with the bike shops, sit on as many bikes as you can, throw ya leg over everything see..its the only way to get a feel. If ya have a license and comfortable, take a test ride, always helpfull to to take someone with you even if they dont know much about bikes, 2 heads are better than one.

Good luck

i have been reading up on the ninja. i am going to seriously consider the ninja 500. i have read some reviews and people say it is a decent beginner bike that i can still enjoy after i get comfotable. i think i might be unhappy with a 250. this is all a little premature seeing as i havent even taken my msf class. but i will.
