Brand new biker, debating on waiting till spring...advice?

Hey, I'm a brand new at this stuff, I just had a calling and wanted to learn and feel the rush. I'm going to be getting a 2001 Suzuki GSX-R 600 most likely, and will be taking a TEAM Arizona MSF safety course. My question is should I wait till next spring to really get going in this, or start learning today? Any advice, on anything, will be appreciated.....

Call me crazy, but right now this years gear and helmets are on clearance to make room for next years stuff. If you don't mind the lack of next springs extra bells and whistles you could probably save some money

I would highly recommend a different first bike than a Gixxer 600...

A Gixxer is a pretty bad first bike. Too much power and too twitchy in throttle and brakes.

There are better choices out there... used is probably the BEST sort of first bike. Did you look in the stickies????

why were you debating waiting until spring? Was it cost or was that when the MFS class opening up? I can't imagine it's the weather

Lucky AZ weather...it was over 75 degrees this time last week here in AL, this morning when I woke up it was 37...

I lived in Phoenix for a year, and don't recall experiencing any "seasons". Why would you wait until spring when the temperature in the winter hovers in the 70's?

Just to pound it into you some, more. Ya the GSX-R 600, is a cool looking, fast, fun bike ( or so ive been told) but i dont think a superbike is the right choice for a n00b, so you might want to think about getting something with a little less juice.

Maybe it is... Anyway, I think that the first thing you should do when getting a motorcycle is determine the absolute

top speed in each gear...
