Nevermind the soccermoms & bushites who take up a lane and 1/2 with their Expeditions, Rovers, Escalades and the obligatory Hummers... driving with cellphone attached to ear, discussing the latest episode of Desperate Housewives, while simultaneously ordering take out from Outback and reprimanding their 3.5 children in the back seats, applying their mascara and adjusting their silicone boobies...
I dare anyone to make a better analogy than this one.

Good luck with your new bike. Oh and don't get blown off the bridge.
Have fun on the open /¦\

Inexpensive Recommendations for Replacement Exhaust - EX500

#12 Unread post by m4lu6 »

I'm not looking for Performance increase, rather, I'm looking to get rid of the noisy (previous owner (using his words) "Pounded holes in exhaust to make it louder") ... well, it's certainly louder, annoyingly so. I understand his "loud pipes save lives" philosophy, but DAMN. If I wanted a harley I'd have bought one ;)

So, I'm looking for replacements, and on the cheap. can anyone offer any specific makes/models and, also, where I might find them?

Thanks!

Don't drive on friday or saturday nights here. And the heat in the summer can be a real hassle but its a good place to ride even if we don't have mountain roads around.
We do have some of the worst drivers around here. Between the tourist morons on the beach who can't quite figure out that they're not in Guernsey (sp?), and that the RIGHT SIDE is the right side, or the Germans who think I-275 is the Autobahn, or the Cannucks with their oversized RVs (thankfully they stick to Clearwater or better yet, Destin).

EOR - end of rant.
Sounds a heck of alot like southern California.

I like loud pipes as much as the next guy. But I think the loup pipes save lives argument is bunk. You don't hear them near as much coming as you hear them going.

M4lu6 has YAF or How Petroleum Distillates Rule My World

Yet Another First...

After returning from my relaxing vacation to Jamaica, I could do nothing but get back on my bike for a quick spin around the neighborhood.

I geared up, and headed down the street towards the gas station. It's a good thing the nearest gas station is just about a mile away. As I'm sitting 3 cars back from the red light, my bike starts to stall. Hmm. Trouble. I figure, it can't be "garage rot", as my buddy calls it, since the bike's only been garaged for 6 days(!). What else can it be?! Quickly! The light just turned green!

AH! Gas! Right!

Reach down for the reserve, and accidentally switch the fuel cut-off to OFF, OOPS! Traffic behind me getting pissed, "Chill out, you monkeys, I'm working on it!"

Retry the switch to Reserve, and shazam. I have go-juice.

I pull into the gas station, and fill up my tank. return the switch to ON position. Go about my business.

Lesson learned: With no fuel gauge, check tank often. I took possession of the bike with about 1/2 full-tank, and it got me about 100 miles of travel.

The MSF class did mention the reserve switch, but I had not needed it (nor did I think I would need it for a 1.5 mile ride to the filling station). SO, if your bike starts to sputter, fellow n00bs, hit that reserve and get to a gas station pronto.
