Hello everyone, there aren't many people I can ask for help on these subjects all the time but as it is occasionally my motorcycle stalls when idle, sometimes it's a pain to compensate with the throttle especially while trying to send a SMS/text message on my phone.
Can I just set it to idle at a higher level so it behaves just like I was compensating with the throttle? Any advice? Cheers.
Oh, this doesn't happen often, but it's super-annoying when it does.
In other news.. I missed my first kangeroo this morning!

Adjusting Idle a bad idea for a newbie?
Well ah...while stopped at a red light (I'm assuming that's where you're idling as that's....pretty much one of the only places you would idle and mind if the engine died) you probably should be doing other things than texting a friend.
For instance, watching your mirrors to make sure the soccer mom at least sees you while she's texting her friend.

Have fun on the open /¦\

If you have a shop manual for your bike (whatever kind it might be), and a modicum of mechanical skills (can you change your oil and filter?), then setting the idle speed should not be too difficult. Most shop manuals will have a detailed explanation that should not be too hard to follow.
NOTE: If your bike has other problems, like poorly adjusted floats, timing, valves, etc... Bumping up the idle will probably not help very much.
