This your first bike? I'd say no-go if it was. But if you've been riding for a bit, go for it.AdrianZ wrote:95' Suzuki RF-900 - Rare & Nice! - $3500

First bike I've owned. I was thinking about getting a 250. I've ridden 250s to there very end (which is not that far) and been on 750s. the 750s have a lot of power and i never really felt the erge to crank on it. it was like driving a muscle car, you know the powers there So you don't really need to use it. I liked the 900 cuz it looked comfy and I bet has a lot more torque than a 250.
I'm not a real speed demand so if it's not going to give me many problems I'll go for it. Now I'll need a new jacket and my yahmaha 50th ann jackets getting returned lol

It's about 125 HP (a la bikez.com). 125 HP is a LOT of power. Would you give a muscle car to a kid right after he took drivers ed? If you really feel as though you can handle more power than a 250 or 500 consider a ~650 (ie VStrom/SV650, Ninja 650, Monster 620)AdrianZ wrote:First bike I've owned. It's impossible to tell from a couple of sentences if the bike is good or not. I'd advise against this bike for a first bike though.
Of course I'm generalizing from a single example here, but everyone does that. At least I do.

I'm aware of the power. I also know it's clasifed as a sports touring bike. I've been on ZX-7Rs which are what 122? But i never saw that hp because I kept it under 8 grand. well kept it up 4 the first few times then once o felt comfortable I took it up to 8k but I felt no need to take it any farther. I know it's got some balls but I don't think I'll be getting on it that often (that sounded SO wrong) I'd love to get an R6 or the more upright 600 yahmaha makes but I don't see them at these prices and I think I'd be more enclied to getting up on a 600 sports bike that this 900.
I'll take into concideration what you said. I'll take it for a test ride and see from there.

The RF900 is not a comfortable bike. It was positioned as a sport-tourer but with the classic Suzuki mistake of having painfully high pegs (think SV1000S). Both bikes looked good to me until I sat on them.

I know a couple of people with this bike and it can be a good sport-tourer. What it is NOT if a bike for a new rider. This bike has some serious power. It will sneak up on you before you know it.
By the way, the 6 pot Busa brake calipers with braided lines make some serious whoa on this bike. A bolt on mod. Be aware you can lock the front wheel with one finger!

I would be the old, slow guy. Just let me know where you are going and I'll try to get there before you leave.
Oh and thanks for all your help guys. i know it can be like pulling teeth with me sometimes. I just really want a bike. and something with a little more umf than a 250. i might go with a V twin in the end. i'm not looking for top end I'm more of a get around town guy. SV650 perhaps
