Why do you bother to build a bike
SOme body said to me, Why do you bother to build a bike, Why dont I just go out and buy a GIXER thou and ride it, its easier, less of a head ache, and really I could be riding not wrenching, and I have the idea in my head how it will end up, but someone who directly isnt involved maythink what Im doing is a waste of time,
but for me Ive allways like to ride something, thats unique, something that you wont see every day ,
but for me, when I build something like this, I know alot about the machine, from the tear down, and the build up, which I enjoy as much as the riding.
and the project really hasnt deviated too much from my first Idea's. when I have the bike to a stage where Im riding it, then I may find, that cirtain Ideas arnt practical or just dont work.
theres allso alot of the build of this machine that was technical dificault stuff that I didnt have a clue about when I started, but when you do build a bike like this, you expect problems along the way, the fun part is finding a way to get over the hurdles.
When its done, I wont have a machine thats worth as much as a standard GIXER, more than likely. but I will have something thats mine, from the ground up.
Allso, Im in Canada, the IDEA Canadians & Americans have of custom bikes and STREETFIGHTERS, is CROME and Paint, I dont see people fabricating stuff in a garage with a angle grinder, and a HOPE...what do these people know any how.
Fukers
Cheers.

Hey Joe ,
It doesn't matter what your building I completely understand what you are saying . It is definitely and uniquely your own and no matter what happens you can always fix any problem cause it's your baby .
Not only is it done your way ya did it your self . For many years I did exactly what you describe and it always brought me a feeling of pride and one of tremendous satisfaction as well .
Keep up the good works .
Kind regards, Wizzard

I especially like it when someone asks where you can get a part...then you tell them you made it, and they freak. I still like riding better, though.

Ride safe...God bless!

I agree Joe. People in N.A. have a very narrow idea of 'custom'...for the most part.
On top of the reasons you listed for building one, there's the fact that you end up with a bike you want and probably can't buy the equivilent of. And you won't see an identical copy of your bike on every corner.

Joe, are you going to polish the new raw metal, or repaint? A guy over at KZRIDER is polishing his tank and it looks Awesome! Just curious...I have tips on getting it mirror-like if you need them. Looks good, so far, BTW! Good job.
Ride safe...God bless!
