First time for everything!

#1 Unread post by skoebl »

I'm 20 years old and I rode my first motorcycle ever the day after Thanksgiving. Was a lot 'easier' than I expected it to be. I was in the desert for the weekend, and ended up riding a Suzuki DR-350. My lesson was short enough; "here's the gas, here's the brake, here's the shifter, and that's the clutch......alright, let's go!."
Ended up riding 100 miles through the desert. Only fell twice while trying to avoid a quad that stopped in front of me, and while trying not to hit a big ford bronco that emerged from a dust storm.
In all it was an amazing experience...quite tiring...but still amazing. I had planned on getting into cycling for some time now, and that ride confirmed everything. Shortly after Christmas I plan on taking the CHP course to learn what it's like to ride a street bike. Then I plan on (depending on the money situation) getting a cheap beater bike, or either an SV-650 or a GS-500.

So we'll see, I'm really eager to start learning!

:)

Hot damn, glad to have you.
Of course I'm generalizing from a single example here, but everyone does that. At least I do.

Oh man, I'd LOVE to do a 100 mile desert run.
Welcome.

Welcome to the forums . Did you go to Glammis or somewhere else ?

We camped in Ocatillo Wells...then rode to Ocatillo....We got a little lost along the way (hence the 80 mile round trip turning into 100 mile lol), but it was still a blast. If I had a capable towing vehicle, and a good sturdy bike like that 350...I would be there every other day for the whole winter :D
